Don’t forget, there are only three days left to register for #COSMO19! We will have 25 plenary talks, more than 100 parallel talks, and about 100 posters! Find all the information here: https://t.co/hNCSbS4UKj
James Joyce in Zurich, with his cigarette and perhaps his last book, Finnegans Wake, from which Murray Gell-Mann, who died yesterday, borrowed the name of those constituents of protons and neutrons that can not be observed as free particles “Three quarks for Muster Mark!”
We have opened registration for #COSMO19! Register soon to benefit from the reduced Early Bird fee. And remember to submit your abstract for talks and posters soon, abstract submission closes at the end of May! https://t.co/hNCSbS4UKj
New paper out today!
Dark Matter Strikes Back at the Galactic Center
https://t.co/6DvXFfZGGT
We show that dark matter annihilation might explain the excess of gamma rays detected at the center of our galaxy, after all.
Mega-thread explaining our results and backstory below!
The Belle experiment, the predecessor of @belle2collab, just released their results for R(D) and R(D*), i.e., ratios of the decay rates of the D and D* mesons, which are sensitive to violation of lepton flavor conservation! https://t.co/zQ4axmlkyt (1/2)
Ironic to see today's spectacular results from @ehtelescope summarized as "Einstein was right". Einstein did NOT believe black holes could exist. Here's his 1939 article about "Schwarzschild singularities" (term 'black hole' was coined much later by J. Wheeler)
This 17-minute film explores the efforts that led to this historic #RealBlackHole image, from the science of Einstein and Schwarzschild to the struggles and successes of the @ehtelescope collaboration. https://t.co/5heHB7Y6wZ
I am in Berlin for a very interesting transdisciplinary workshop of the @dfg_public “Digital Turn in the Sciences and Humanities” project: https://t.co/QprwFicb4M
Dark Matter: that strange and elusive component of the Universe we all want to find. But how can we find something that we can't see, something that can literally fly through walls? Find out the answer in our new blog post by @saniaheba!

Heads up: *very important* first results from the Event Horizon Telescope to be announced on April 10. Hint: EHT is a global effort to construct an Earth-sized virtual telescope array, able to actually “photograph” nearby supermassive black holes https://t.co/VS8YdB124z
LHCb has presented an update of the lepton flavour universality (LFU) test measurement R_K. The value is consistent with the SM expectation at the level of 2.5σ. Unfortunately, the significance of a potential LFU violation did not grow with more data.
The LHCb collaboration has seen, for the first time, CP violation in charm mesons. Results will be presented at Moriond and CERN today: https://t.co/Yoel49GL2b
