Delighted to share our @MDAndersonNews multi-D experience with thrombectomy for #dvt in cancer patients in @CVIR_Journal! A key finding is the relatively high rate of tumor thrombus in this cohort. Please send your clot samples for histologic evaluation! https://t.co/hbqwgdiy0V
Saddle emboli. HR 160, Saturation 86 on 8 liters Oxygen, elevated troponin, with right ht strain.
after INARI thrombectomy, HR 72, Saturation 94 on room air. Mean PA pressure from 50 to 32. Immediate results are amazing. Why I love being an IR.

Delighted to share our second R01 of 2023! So grateful to @theNCI for supporting our @MDAndersonNews MPI project with Vahid Afshar-Kharghan and @AnilSoodMD investigating the biology and treatment of cancer-associated venous thromboembolic disease!
History of cvc-related right central occlusion and left narrowing presenting with debilitating right arm predominant swelling. Underwent recan with kissing stents. Thankfully sx's resolved and remains asymptomatic at 12 mo @OSURadiology@OSUWexMed@SIRspecialists@SIRRFS@SIR_ECS
Moving straight into the “Lower GI Bleeding - The Interventional Radiologist Perspective” discussion led by @milanpatelMD.
Up next, the surgeon’s perspective! Then our session eight LIVE panel discussion.

Always on a Friday at 5pm. Young male lifeflighted with ruptured AML. Almost looks like a shattered kidney. Urology considering urgent nephrectomy. #IRad with maximum nephron sparing therapy @HCIRad@jdkubanMD@rahulshethmd
@kevinsealsmd Sorry my reply got deleted. But background history of tuberous sclerosis so was going to stick with particles to preserve future access but changed plans with frank extravasation. Could have gone bigger maybe, 700-900s? I was using 3-500s.
@kevinsealsmd Definitely exactly what I was thinking about. Not sure if the particles got into distal end branches and increased the arterial pressure to the pseudoaneurysms? Decided to swap given the hemodynamics. But interesting that this happened to you as well.
@Dr_Sudi@HCIRad@jdkubanMD@rahulshethmd@JVIRmedia@SIRRFS@RadiologyACR@cirsesociety @GESTSymposium Thank you.
Just saw them this morning, stabilized over the weekend and sent out of the ICU. Hgb stable around 9 and Cr peaked at 1.7 now down to 0.8. Likely going home today with outpatient followup.
I’m happy the clinical results are as good as the technical results.
Got a little scary intraoperatively with the bleed opening up during particle embolization and patient deteriorating however the fellow and I kept our cool, got distal and switched to gel foam for immediate control followed by ruby packing coils.
Immediate resolution of hypotension and preservation of at least 50% of the right kidney. From access to closure in 30 minutes, cases like these always remind me why I chose this specialty!
Cirrhosis c/b chronic main portal vein occlusion and recalcitrant bleeding from gastric varices, treated with trans-splenic portal vein recanalization+TIPS. There’s nothing quite like pulling a wire from the neck, through the liver, and out the spleen! @PeimanH_VIR@SIRRFS
