Let’s reflect with our local community to understand how hedge funds like Chatham Asset Management contribute to this situation and create a chilling effect on editorial freedom and the local community. This conservative hedge fund, with strong ties to the Republican Party, holds controlling stakes in McClatchy, a prominent American publishing company, and owns two-thirds of Postmedia, which now controls the Halifax Chronicle Herald and most Canadian newspapers.

I hope the election outcomes in both the US and Canada, with Democrats and Liberals, will ensure they pay a high price for their actions.

I was most proud of this. Can you believe that before 2019, my cartoons were featured in every newspaper across Atlantic Canada? Every single one. Small, medium, and big publications alike. I dominated four provinces—New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. I loved this region deeply, and I made it a point to draw local cartoons that resonated with the community, not just the big, easy targets like Trump. I knew people on the community level- Oxford, Saint John, Bridgewater, Summerside, New Glasgow, Torbay, St.John's, Charlottetown, Cornerbrook.

And now? I’m in none of them.

Postmedia owns them all.
