@FreightAlley My emphasis is more towards Coca Cola doesn't do the manufacturing anymore (just the concentrate), so there's much less head count than in the past. All the manufacturing is by franchisees.
@szetoinsitu@FreightAlley In the 1930s the ICC didn't allow railroads to have trucking subsidiaries.
Combine that with government funded highways, and the railroads went downhill pretty quick.
@LysanderBoomer In Wisconsin, might be tacit admission that the municipalities are dumping too much salt on the roads. Also one of the few things that can get permits relatively easily. Apartments are much more difficult.
