I lived in Beijing and I knew a lot of people who participated the Tiananmen accident in 1989, and you might not believe, the majority of them now think the CPC did the right thing at the time.

Most of the participants were patriotic young people whose original intention was only to oppose corruption, which was indeed very serious at that time. These young people hoped for a better China, but they were young and naive, they were incited by a small number of student leaders sponsored by the CIA to express their deep love for the country in the absolutely wrong way.

Now they are no longer young, they are no longer naive, and they would not be easily incited by others, the only thing never changed is they are still patriots. After seeing what happened in China/world in the past 30+ years, they have deeper thinking on many things and now they are on the opposite side of the young themselves.
