@AcueductosPR Friday and Saturday??? It’s already been days without water in Unibón! And we have yet to see a water truck in the area. And now we wait until the weekend for hopes that it gets resolved? Unacceptable and uncivilized.
The American Dream Belongs to All of Us -- Even Bad Bunny
I am not a fan of Bad Bunny, and I often criticize his music. His political beliefs don’t align with mine -- he believes in a free Puerto Rico, and I believe in a fully federated Puerto Rico (statehood).
But that doesn’t mean that Benito Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny) isn’t entitled to live his version of the American dream, just like the rest of us. His political views or the fact that some in the U.S. are offended by his lyrics or his culture don’t change that reality. Because that’s not how the U.S. Constitution works.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory with more than 3.2 million natural-born American citizens. I love the United States with the same passion that I love my island - and my Puerto Rico is also the United States.
Men and women from Puerto Rico and across the nation have fought and died together on foreign shores to defend our freedoms. As someone whose oath of service never expires, I have a moral obligation to defend Benito’s freedom as a U.S. citizen, even when I disagree with him.
For those losing sleep over the NFL halftime show or the fact that his music is in Spanish, let me remind you: over 350 languages are spoken in the United States (U.S. Census Bureau). Music - regardless of language - is protected under the First Amendment.
Our Constitution protects free speech, creative expression, and artistic intent in any language. Whether a song is in Spanish, English, Chinese, or French, the law forbids discrimination based on language.
When I joined the U.S. Navy, I could barely speak English. Yet, non-Spanish-speaking sailors embraced me, showed patience, and reminded me why this country truly is the best in the world. I learned, adapted, and thrived thanks to professionals who looked beyond my accent or language barriers. I got to live my own American dream -- and I’m still living it.
I retired from active service in 2007, but I remind myself every day why I served -- beyond family tradition. And honestly, I don’t understand what’s happening to our country politically or socially.
If you’re offended by someone else’s language, that’s not a reflection of American values -- it’s a reflection of personal weakness, shaped by political ideology.
So yes, I’m going out on a limb to defend Benito’s right to express himself freely anywhere in the United States. I still don’t like his lyrics - but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that he has the right to perform.
And to those in the MAGA movement -- especially those in government -- losing sleep over this: let me sum it up clearly. Non-English expression is protected speech. You have every right to criticize it, but you don’t have the right to decide what is or isn’t protected under our Constitution.

I was talking to someone about planting food and fruit trees in public spaces and they were like "Why, so everyone can steal the food?" And I was like... See, that's the problem right there. Why should taking fruit off a public tree be stealing?
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the iconic Live Aid 1985.
Here are some of the greatest performances from that day. A thread 🧵
1. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
This is Sausage. His humans got him his very own swimming pool and he's obsessed with it. We asked them if he swims every day and they said, ”Every single day. He follows us around the house until we take him outside AND sit and watch him. If we’re not there he won’t swim." 14/10 good for him
