AWESOME JOB OPPORTUNITY: Tenure-Track Position - Coral Ecology & Diversity (Green Island Marine Research Station, Academia Sinica, Taiwan)
Full details here: https://t.co/EbY7aXaF1G
The Biodiversity Research Center, Academia Sinica (BRCAS), Taipei, Taiwan invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Research Fellow (equivalent to “assistant professor” at universities) level or above in the field of marine ecology and biodiversity to strengthen the research at the Green Island Marine Research Station. Our preferred fields are coral ecology and diversity. Outstanding applicants in other fields of marine ecology are also welcome. Applicants who can frequently work at the Green Island Marine Research Station and conduct marine ecology and biodiversity research mainly in Green Island will have priority in consideration. Green Island is a coral reef island in the eastern waters of Taiwan and BRCAS has a marine station there, which provides strong support in SCUBA diving for research. An applicant must possess a PhD, with postdoctoral experience and a strong track record of scientific productivity.
Academia Sinica is the top national research institute in Taiwan and provides good start-up funding and substantial internal support for new PIs. BRCAS consists of four divisions: Marine biodiversity and ecosystems, Terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystems, Evolutionary genetics and genomics, and Microbial diversity and Bioinformatics. BRCAS is not only equipped with modern research facilities but also houses an excellent zoological and botanical collection in the Biodiversity Research Museum and manages the Green Island Marine Research Station.
The position will be open until filled; however, the first stage submission deadline will be July 31. The review will be conducted in August/September 2025. Applicants should submit their cover letter, CV (including a list of publications), up to 5 representative papers (PDF files), and a statement of past achievements and future research plans to our secretary, Ms. Miao-Suey Lin ([email protected]). ‘In the time of omics, the traditional physiology seems inefficient. But, in the long run, it pays off. Because if we want to understand the impact of env changes on organisms, we first need to know how their physiological functions work.’

Check out our new paper if you have interested to know what dynamic factors cause the barren #hydrothermal-#vent system & an abundant #coral system co-exist at the two sides of #Kueishan Island (2.8m2) :)
Led by @ken860531 & @minchenwang, this new paper on @aslo_org#ASLO_Letters tracked the physicochemical & #soundscape conditions of the shallow #hydrothermal vents off NE Taiwan. Time series data show these vents shift between active and silent periods.

The energy invested in animal reproduction is as much as 10 times greater than previously estimated, according to a new Science study.
The findings fundamentally challenge longstanding theories and biological models of animal growth and life histories. https://t.co/s5RkreueGk
