We hear a lot about putting Christ at the center of our lives. But what does that mean in practice? Elder Christofferson gave some great counsel in this 2016 article in the New Era:
How to Make Christ the Center of Our Lives

I converted to the Church in my '30s. I immediately got a phone call from my secular friends saying I had joined a cult and urging me to leave. I said: I had an alcohol problem before I joined the Church, and now I don't. Why would you want me to go back to that? No answer.
The new schedule for Sundays is an answer to prayers for me. My kids spend every other weekend with their other parent who does not attend church. My 12 year old son who is a new Deacon, has only been to 1 Deacons Quorum meeting and it's the end of March.
For my entire life and beyond, the leaders of the Church have warned about Satan’s attack on the family.
Thirty years ago, that warning was extended to the entire world.
Despite these clear and repeated warnings, many have embraced the deceptions of the adversary.
There’s a reason God sends prophets. We ignore them at our peril.
When our son was home from BYU for Christmas, he mentioned that he sees more people with Down’s syndrome in UT than anywhere else.
I’ll never forget the look of realization on his face when I told him it’s because most people don’t abort them there.
Satan wins when:
Women won't pray in public.
Women won't give talks in Church.
Women won't bear testimony to their children.
Women won't minister in homes.
Women won't open the scriptures.
Caffeine is not good for you. All the comments from people who say "this person I know drinks it, and he's a bishop" prove nothing.
It's bad for you. I don't care who does it.
I know this is an unpopular opinion.....but Latter Day Saints should be holding a higher standard of living and thus shouldnt be drinking caffeinated soda unless its for medicinal purposes. If you are, you are most likely addicted. And if you think the church hasn't clarified this issue.....you should read the topic in the gospel library on the word of wisdom. I actually believe this is harmful for us and not just physically but spiritually too. Anything in the topics section I consider to be how we should be living our lives as much as possible. I am not perfect, I have my own inner struggles and battles but I am grateful I haven't struggled with caffeine. But I have struggled with addiction in the past and I am telling you....it harms you even if you don't see it. There is a reason we shouldn't be engaging with any type of addiction, whatever that may be.
