Unofficial account for owners of the all-electric, British manufactured MINI, made in Oxford from 2020-2024, to share news and exchange views & information.
Has @MINIUK@BMW_UK not appreciated the strong possibility the disappointing demand for its latest BEVs is BECAUSE they are not yet being built at @MINIPlantOxford?๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
WE will not consider buying a Chinese built EV, so our current @MINI could be our last!๐๐ปโโ๏ธhttps://t.co/j3ncuz6sqQ
@EVPuzzle@MINIUK@ListersMINI@MINIPlantOxford@BMWGroup Currently have THIS as a courtesy carโฆ
Range is almost double our F56 and it drives well with comfortable front seats.
BUT ride seems harsher, interior is much less attractive with cheap plastics and lacks physical controls.
We would NOT swap from our ๐ฌ๐ง MINI for this ๐จ๐ณ one!
@EVPuzzle@MINIUK@ListersMINI@MINIPlantOxford Indeed. If they start whacking on extra charges after three years, then weโre going to have to purchase something that looks cheaper and blander and is made over in China anyway, we may as well just buy a Chinese EV brand for half the price?!๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Very disappointing from @BMWGroup
@road_electric@graeme_cobb @newt7215 @EarlTheLeaf@juliandc Our key objection at the moment is that this car is being built in China rather than @MINIPlantOxford. ๐จ๐ณ๐๐ผ
This should NOT be happening with this British brand.โ๐ผ
When manufacturing of @MINIUK BEVs returns to the UK weโll think about it. ๐ฌ๐ง๐ค๐ผ
Until then itโs not on the listโฆ
@discover_ev@UKMiniElectric@MINIUK@MINICountryMen โฆ and made only in Germany. ๐ฉ๐ช๐๐ผ
Therefore itโs even less of a โproperโ MINI than it was before, unfortunately... ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ

@BritBuiltCars@EarlTheLeaf@Yorkshire_Grit@QuentinWillson@renault_uk@MINIUK@MINIPlantOxford@MINI In fairness, the tail lights on the latest model are so strange you might not realise itโs a bit of our Union Flag, anyway?! ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Agreed it should not be there on a Chinese made MINI, though. Itโs clearly aiming to mislead buyers who are wanting to buy a British electric car. ๐ฌ๐ง๐๐ผ
@Yorkshire_Grit@QuentinWillson@renault_uk Yes, thatโs what I was thinking.๐ฌ๐ง๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Only @BritBuiltCars should be allowed that roof - or Union Jack tail lights!๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Listen-up @MINIUK with your electric MINIs built in China. ๐จ๐ณ๐๐ผ
Please remove our flag until theyโre finally being made again at @MINIPlantOxford in 2026!!! ๐ฃ๐๐ผ
@UKMiniElectric@MINIUK And the fact that all #MINIelectric models are current being built only in China. ๐จ๐ณ๐๐ผ
Roll on 2026 when FINALLY @MINIPlantOxford will be manufacturing EVs again and we can resume championing them. ๐ฌ๐ง๐๐ผ
Using your @MINIUK#MINIelectric example for this piece was very interesting.
However, the โrunning costโ of 6.4p per mile with home charging is very pessimistic. For example, with Intelligent @OctopusEnergy Go, itโs 7p per kWh overnight, so nearer to 2p per mile!๐๐ผ
@DrivingEVs
@graeme_cobb Couldnโt agree more. ๐๐ผ
Iโve owned a @NissanUK@NissanEVuk LEAF since 2016 and my wife bought a @MINIUK@MINI_Electric in 2022 - because theyโre both great cars, but also we wanted the lowest manufacturing carbon footprint by buying British. ๐ฌ๐ง
Weโre never reverting to ICE! โ๐ผ
What do you do when you've driven
150 miles in the Mini Electric and
arrive home with 14% battery left?
Go back out to beat your last record of 170 miles
