web dev people, what’s one concept you understood only after actually building something?

mine was realizing that “deploying a website” is basically the easy part ^^

something i wish people explained better when learning web dev:

HTML is the structure
CSS is the presentation
JS is the behaviour

but then you add a backend, database, APIs, authentication, deployment, DNS, caching, CDNs..

and suddenly that “simple website” has 14 things talking to each other 😭
