I look forward to the day when there will be no visa for an African coming to this country [Nigeria]...'
I look forward to the day when, if I'm an investor in Delta State… I can take my plane from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and arrive here in Asaba without a landing and exit card.

Delta State is peaceful for investment. We cannot depend on oil alone. Oil has made us proud as a state, but we need to diversify.

I genuinely like the idea behind the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit.
I have long believed that Delta State needs a major investment summit to showcase our opportunities to local and international investors, so I'm pleased to see this initiative.
Looking through the calibre of speakers, investors and business leaders attending this summit, it is clear that this is a serious initiative with significant potential.
My hope, however, is that the true success of the summit will not be measured by the quality of the speeches or the number of dignitaries in attendance, but by the investments secured, businesses established, jobs created and the tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Deltans.
Delta has enormous advantages. From our strategic location, gas reserves, ports, agriculture, tourism potential and most importantly, our talented people. The opportunity is there. The challenge is converting conversations into concrete investments and sustained economic growth.
For me, success will be when summits like this lead to dormant industries reopening, new factories being established, and more young Deltans finding meaningful employment.
I sincerely hope this summit achieves its objectives and that, in the months and years ahead, we begin to see real dividends across our communities.
Development should never be partisan. Whenever an idea has the potential to move Delta State forward, it deserves our support, while we also hold government accountable for delivering results.
As a legislative candidate, this is exactly what I will be watching for. The Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) signed at this summit must translate into real investments, functioning businesses and jobs. I will continue to advocate for the House of Assembly to track these commitments and make periodic reports available to the public, so Deltans can see which promises became reality.
If we get this right, the real beneficiaries won't just be investors, they will be the ordinary men and women across Delta State whose lives are improved through sustainable economic opportunities.
Despite the huge investment in improving public infrastructure, we have not borrowed a kobo from any bank, and we do not intend to borrow.

ECONOMIC SUMMIT: Delta, First-Order Investment Destination - Shettima
...As Oborevwori Unveils $100m Fund To De-risk Investments In Delta
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Monday called on local and foreign investors to take advantage of Nigeria's improved economic outlook, declaring that Delta State is strategically positioned to emerge as one of the country's foremost investment destinations.
He said the Federal Government's economic reforms continue to restore investor confidence.
Speaking at the opening of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba, Shettima said the bold reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu's administration had strengthened macroeconomic stability, improved Nigeria's global credit profile and created the right environment for long-term investments.

Today, it was an absolute pleasure and honour to host the Delta State Economic & Investment Summit, themed “Harnessing Our Strengths, Unlocking Our Potentials,” at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, with the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, serving as the keynote speaker.
This marked the crystallisation of a journey that began in July and August last year with foreign investment missions to Brazil and China. At the Summit, I noted that our goal is to partner with prospective investors, with the overriding objective of building a modern economy that is strongly diversified and adaptable to the physical, social and technological changes of the 21st century.
The Vice President, Senator @KashimSM has endorsed the healthy cycle of competition among the 36 states of the federation, saying it is necessary to actualise Nigeria’s quest for prosperity, economic growth, human dignity, and job opportunities.
This, he said, is evident in the quality and ambition of the investment summits organised by the states across the country, emphasising that the nation’s strength lies in the proactive economic awakening of its subnational governments rather than just the government at the centre.
Senator @KashimSM, who stated this on Monday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, during the state’s Economic and Investment Summit 2026, organised by the @DSGovernment, reiterated the need for states to transition from basic asset documentation to practical execution and job creation.
“The cycle of competition among our states is now evident in the quality and ambition of the investment summits convened across the federation. Every state possesses immense promise, but each must define a trajectory unique to its history, geography, people and comparative advantage.”
From a microeconomics standpoint, Nigeria has stabilized and is on the rise. I haven’t borrowed a dime since I became Governor.
- Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, speaking today at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit.
Secretary to the Delta State Government and Chairman of the summit planning committee, Kingsley Emu, says Delta State is positioning itself as a leading investment destination, driven by its strong GDP and abundant natural resources.

With its robust infrastructure, airports and seaports, business-friendly environment, Delta Special Economic Zone, strategic location, and highly skilled workforce, Delta State is well positioned as one of Nigeria’s most attractive investment destinations.
This is why the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit is both timely and significant. It provides an important platform to showcase the state’s immense potential, strengthen investor confidence, and unlock new opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
Listening to the various speakers highlight the investment prospects and competitive advantages of Delta State was both insightful and inspiring. The conversations underscored that Delta is not only open for business but ready for investment.
