🚨 Another timely intervention by Pakistan to keep negotiations alive: Iran’s deputy foreign minister says they were “on the brink” of responding to last night’s ceasefire violation, but Pakistan stepped in and prevented escalation.
Received a warm and substantive telephone call from President Emmanuel Macron, this afternoon.
President Macron graciously congratulated Pakistan on its sincere efforts in facilitating the ceasefire between Iran and the United States, and for helping bring both sides to the negotiating table.
I deeply appreciate his kind words as well as his good wishes for the success of the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad.
Pakistan will continue to work with its partners and friends, including France to ensure that this opportunity leads to a durable and lasting peace.
We also shared serious concern over the ongoing aggression in Lebanon and underscored the urgent need to end the violence and loss of innocent lives, so that peace may be restored across the region.
@EmmanuelMacron
Pakistan is owed a huge debt of gratitude for its mediation efforts. The world was collectively holding its breath as President Trump's deadline loomed, with threats to wipe out an entire civilisation.
Another sign that the centre of mediation has moved from Europe, eastwards.
Violations of ceasefire have been reported at few places across the conflict zone which undermine the spirit of peace process. I earnestly and sincerely urge all parties to exercise restraint and respect the ceasefire for two weeks, as agreed upon, so that diplomacy can take a lead role towards peaceful settlement of the conflict.

It’s Fajr time in Islamabad (4:30am), you can hear the Adhaan. Negotiations are beginning in this city, which I earlier called the mediation capital on 10 April. A morning of joy, hope, and new beginnings, Inshallah. ✌️
Meet Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
2019: DG ISI - Indian Air Force jet shot down and pilot caught.
2025: 7 Indian Air Force Rafales shot down. India begged for a ceasefire from the US.
2026: Won peace for the world bringing the Middle East war to an end.
Everything has changed for Pakistan since May 2025, when India attempted an attack. Not only did Pak shoot down Indian jets, it also demonstrated its military capabilities to the world. A blunder by Modi that has put Pak today in global headlines, while he is nowhere to be seen.
With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes.
Both parties have displayed remarkable wisdom and understanding and have remained constructively engaged in furthering the cause of peace and stability. We earnestly hope, that the ‘Islamabad Talks’ succeed in achieving sustainable peace and wish to share more good news in coming days!
