1972 SI article on “The Sports Huddle” and the whole war between Eddie Andelman and Jacobs Bros(Bruins/Boston Garden). WBZ was B’s flagship and had to cancel the show because the heat Andelman brought on the B’s. Felger would’ve bent over.
Great read.

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our dear friend, Eddie Andelman. The originator of sports radio was not just a legend in his field, but our families, the Andelmans and Wongs has a long-storied history of friendship through sports and most notably in the philanthropic world…which began with meeting Eddie approximately 50 years ago.
Most of the people today do not remember or are too young to realize how Eddie and the Kowloon were intertwined in each of our existence. The mere mention of the word “Kowloon” elicited an immediate response with a shout... "Eddie Andelman!"
His kind giving nature and the relationship he developed especially with our parents will never be forgotten. This unbreakable bond has carried on between our family with his sons David, Michael, and Dan Andelman.
One factoid brought to mind is how our famous Saugus Wings were named during a dinner with Eddie and his wife, Judi. Upon tasting the wings, we needed a name, and the fabulous Judi immediately responded, Saugus Wings! Of course, Eddie agreed!
We will miss you Eddie, your wit and conversations and mostly your friendship and smile.
We say goodbye for now, but we all know it will be “Kowlooooon sooooon” sometime in the future.
Rest in peace my friend,
The Wong family

In his forthcoming memoir, VP JD Vance now concedes that it was “boneheaded” of him in 2021 to call Kamala Harris and other Democrats “childless cat ladies.” https://t.co/Cr6bhCoeDR
He was Courtside when The Knicks only won 10 games, he’s one of the only Celebs who pays for their Knicks tickets because him & Dolan hate each other, he doesn’t even use The Celebrity entrance at MSG

If there were a Mt. Rushmore for local sports anchors, Len Berman is on it. His nightly updates were must-watch for me, as was “Spanning the World.”
He did play-by-play for St. John’s basketball during the Carnesecca era and for the Knicks and the Mets on radio.
I remember him on pay-per-view boxing broadcasts back when boxing featured Pernell Whitaker and Julio César Chávez.
Always a breath of fresh air on WNBC Channel 4 and during those fights.
Returning to Czechoslovakia in 1986 after defecting “was bittersweet,” @Martina Navratilova tells me. “There was so much emotion… I cried when I left, when the plane was taking off, because I could leave, but 15 million people couldn’t.”
What would Andy think? Check out this special edition of "Beat the Press with Emily Rooney" in which Emily and her brother, Brian Rooney, talk about how their legendary father would be reacting to the meltdown of "60 Minutes." https://t.co/nRaob6CkZZ
Eight years with ALS has taught me a lot.
Some things have changed. Others stay the same. Joy looks different now, but it's still there. In my girls. In Sandra. In a great pair of socks and a mountain I wasn't supposed to be able to ski.
Life advice nobody told you: Build momentum early in the day. One small win in the morning creates energy that compounds throughout the day. 10 minutes of reading. A quick workout. A finished task. Great days are built on tiny wins that ripple. Small things become big things.
