Appearing before the Delhi High Court in the plea challenging the alleged police brutalities during the recent student protest over examination paper leaks, Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan argued that judicial intervention was imperative to uphold the rule of law. He submitted that if the Court failed to intervene, it would effectively give the police "a licence to get away with absolutely anything because they have the sanction of their political masters."

It was not just a protest. It was a message from the youth of India that their future matters.

But what happened later was deeply disturbing. Many of those on the streets were school students and NEET aspirants. Seeing force used against them raises difficult questions. This situation reflects failures at many levels, there should have been better planning, timely dialogue, and leadership before things reached this stage.

A strong democracy does not ignore its young people. It listens to them. India's youth deserve quality education, better opportunities, accountability, and respect. I hope today becomes the beginning of meaningful and peaceful change.

Proud of India's youth. Keep believing. Keep speaking. Keep building a better India.

After fasting for 19 days, @Wangchuk66 is not just protesting; he is asking the country to listen. A peaceful protest at #JantarMantar is about justice, accountability and the value of every human life. The lives of the children who were lost matter, and their families deserve answers. No parent should have to live with such pain without knowing what went wrong or who is responsible.

Asking questions is not against the government. It is the right of every citizen in a democracy. A government becomes stronger when it listens to its people and responds with honesty and compassion.

I sincerely hope this peaceful protest is heard with the seriousness it deserves, that accountability is ensured where appropriate, and that steps are taken to prevent such tragedies from happening again. Above all, I pray that @Wangchuk66's health and life are protected. No cause should demand another life. Humanity, justice and dialogue must always come before politics.

I started reading this judgment expecting another arbitration dispute. But the very first line told me that the Court wanted to say something much bigger.

“Arbitration in India has not failed, however Courts sometimes have failed arbitration in India.”

That one sentence captures the entire judgment. The Supreme Court’s concern was not arbitration itself. The concern was what happens after an arbitral award is passed. Instead of bringing disputes to an end, awards are often challenged through multiple rounds of litigation, sometimes for years. In the process, the speed and finality that arbitration promises are lost.

The Court also pointed towards a recurring issue involving government bodies and public sector undertakings. They agree to arbitration when contracts are signed, but after an adverse award, litigation often continues for years. This delays payments, increases costs and creates uncertainty for everyone involved.

The message from the Court is simple, arbitration will remain effective only if arbitral awards are treated as final and court intervention remains limited to exceptional cases.
