I wish there was a broader understanding that in order to support childrenโs wellbeing and mental health, we need to support all adults who are taking care of them. When adults are stressed and dysregulated, how can they hold space for children? We need a community response!
Working with fabric is ephemeral, unlike ceramics or jewellery. So, these fragments of iron age textiles are as startling as they are beautiful. From the salt mines at Hallstatt, Austria.
Sometimes you forget how much kids enjoy board games and legos due to all of the technology we use in schools. We need to give kids more time doing these things. @dailystem
my other favourite is asking what their favourite part of the day is ("lunch"). i've started rolling with it and let them report to the class what they ate :')
had a very productive day in y2 - cold tasks, assessments, maths games, songs, storytime, phonics etc. asked a girl what she'd tell her mum about when she got home: "glueing"
And on Monday, I went back, and this happened. Thanks to Elliott, his @CitizenZoo colleagues & a wonderful group of local guardians, there are once again water voles on the Hogsmill. The world just got a little bit better. Congratulations to all involved.
A picture of me with a Sitka Spruce! According to Wikipedia, "the fifth-largest conifer in the world, and the third-tallest conifer species". Thinking about how I can bring eco-literacy into my classroom this year (my class already knows that I am interested in mushrooms!) :)
A move to Year 2 for me and an enhancement to support the children when learning to tell the time (saw the idea on twitter). Children will take turns to wear the watch. Other times will be added as we move through the year #year2#edutwitter#tellingthetime#year2maths
