End of the week gripe:
Please don’t tell kids you weren’t good at maths at school. If you must talk about it, please tell them you regret not trying harder at maths.
NB could apply to any subject.
Any maths teachers out there that want to be part of a long term strategy to develop research-informed classroom practice across a maths department?
We are recruiting for maths.
We are located on the Surrey/Hants border. We are @TeamFHES.

So helpful! I’m teaching constructions this week and this comes handily just after @PETeachPete sends a video on how to screen record on chromebook. Love the idea of having the example on a rolling loop while the students work! #mathschat
New! A quick post on the power of modelling and exemplars in maths teaching. Includes some thoughts on how we can use @EmporiumMaths's excellent exemplar resources.

Maths teachers: when talking about units of area/volume do we say “centimetres squared” etc or “square centimetres”? Does it make a difference? Personally have been using them interchangeably but now questioning if we should be more specific? @RobynShadbolt@mathsjem
@robertpstephen @mrallanmaths@RobynShadbolt@mathsjem But (playing devils advocate) 2 centimetres squared should be equal to two square centimetres if we use the order of operations properly. I see this was raised as a point in the original thread from 2016
1/If you're using White Rose, I have made some check-ins in MS Forms for y7-10 for the next unit in the Spring term that you can duplicate to your area, modify if needed and set for your classes, answers are included. I will be making more...@mathsjem@mrbartonmaths@WRMathsSec
@EmporiumMaths are you planning on making GCSE Practice Tests 1-13 all available as PDF instead of Word? Many of our students do not have access to Microsoft on Chromebooks, phones etc.
