Gamefying language learning isn't really the best...id say keep jisho open on a tab and just read articles or something. You memorize kanji by properly seeing them used in context
Duolingo isn't a standalone tool for language learning. At most, it can help you nail pronunciation, plus a few hundred words and basic phrases. To go further, you need something else. Or just ditch Duolingo altogether.
Just saw a comment that they “love that Japanese call it Mr Fuji” and am non-ironically wondering how many foreigners think the san in Fuji-san is the honorific san and not just “Mt”. It never really occurred to me before
