The long-sought goal of reducing crowded classrooms has taken on new urgency during the pandemic. The proposed revision to the city’s Administrative Code could limit the number of occupants in school classrooms by at least a third.

But what if we also challenge Ss by providing rich experiences and hands on learning centers. Smaller class sizes = more individualized attention to Ss needs. This motivates Ss unlike the three 45min session tests I’m required to give my kindergarteners....
Now and always, we are committed to providing a school experience that challenges all children and delivers on their thirst for knowledge, no matter what. To ALL families: I reiterate our commitment to serving your child with a strong, supportive education.
How about we stop defunding the arts? Engage in more creative experiences for kids to incorporate arts and STEM. Perhaps we start by giving teachers choice back so teachers can buy Ss enrichment materials without going into their own pockets.
Gifted & Talented programs serve a small percentage of children—but we know many more @NYCSchools students are exceptional. We must move away from the test & develop a system that reimagines academic and enrichment programming for our most exceptional students.

Such an awesome initiative! 💖 Way to help those in need and help to bring quality education to our students learning virtually!
Had to share—not sure this is what @peterhreynolds had in mind, but I was inspired by one of my favorite books and made a connection to my life today 🤣 #teacherlife#BackToSchool#msturkstacos
I'm loving the idea of flexible seating in a classroom! I've set up this @DonorsChoose project to help make my classroom environment dreams into a reality! Check it out with this link!! <3 https://t.co/JbqSXFBUnq

@NYCMayor the reality for most public schools is that 150+ bodies may be in a room at one time. Especially for lunch, recess, pick up/dismissal. Why are DOE teachers on the frontlines of a pandemic ??? Would you send your child to school on Monday?
Mulgrew: We must do all we can to help ensure that our students can continue to learn. But we have reached the point where continuing to keep our classrooms open poses a greater lasting threat than the disruption that will result from school closings. https://t.co/MpO5AdEAO7
@NYCMayor Please close all NYC schools! Teachers shouldn’t have to feel like second class citizens and risk our safety/the safety of our families because of your ignorance !!!!
