@caitoz Thank you, Caitlin and Tim for all that you do and for consistently helping us learn (and unlearn) the propaganda we've been fed over the years. More power to you 🫶
I think we need a new election commission in India. Ideally one not staffed with entitled incompetent buffoons who inconvenience people because they don't do their own due diligence.
Meet Noreen. She runs a library in Shahbad Dairy, Delhi — which can be a dangerous activity as our report on Noida labour protest and the UP police's case on it shows.
What kind of justice system do we have that allows a thug who confessed to murder to be given bail. And keeps Umar Khalid not convicted of any crime in jail for six years.#justiceforumarkhalid
It's a day of sadness & shame for every Indian
A young man of rare idealism & courage #UmarKhalid completes 6 long years in prison
He called for peace & justice, yet he's charged with planning terror
Even his trial hasn't started
India's democracy has failed him

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
Corruption is not an issue anymore because everyone understands (and even respects) this basic human urge to hoard, to make more money. We even celebrate the top 15-20 billionaires of the nation as some sort of beacons of our culture and pride.
But what gets missed in this razzle-dazzle is that corruption is not just someone making extra money by bending rules - it also means those bent rules KILL people. In building fires, collapses, fake cancer medicines, adulterated foods, drunk driving, and a hundred other ways.
Corruption actually means someone making money by murdering people, murdering us.
Horrific to see how Palestinian kids (and those in Sudan, Congo, Lebanon, Afghanistan etc.) are forced to live. Somehow, their lives seem to matter less to our leaders and the custodians of international law.
Wow. Going to one of India’s premier colleges and once again branding a young, questioning generation as “Dimagi Naxals” has got to be among the most shameful things a Prime Minister can do. And on Teacher’s Day.
He could have spoken about why SRCC’s own teachers have had to protest over denial of medical and childcare leave. He could have promised SRCC’s students better infrastructure that’s crumbling. He could have acknowledged the crushing pressure of hyper-competition they face.
He could have also spoken about nearly 1 lakh schools shutting down in a decade. About 9 crore young Indians trapped without any jobs, any education and any training. About 73% of school students dropping out before completing higher secondary education. He could even have answered for his own government SLASHING education budget by HALF in last 12 years!
But he chose none of it.
Instead, the Prime Minister used Teacher’s Day to deliver yet another political lecture DEMONISING an entire generation of young Indians for committing one unforgivable act in his eyes: questioning those in power.
A Prime Minister should give the young hope, not such stupid labels. He should answer their questions, not vilify them for asking.
What a pathetic state of affairs.

Hello @rameshsrivats, the latest news from India today is that a FIR has been filed against an elderly Muslim man for quietly, peacefully praying in an empty lot, and at the same time, a goon who boasted about cracking open a man's skull, who upholds Godse, who openly talks about beating up people, whose every word is laced with communal and casteist hate, is invited to PM's swearing in ceremony. This India has become thus because of people like you. Because people like you think that Modi who oversaw the 2002 riots of Gujarat, many fake encounters, rampant media censorship in Gujarat and cronyism with Adani and Ambani would bring about a different India. Modi of 2002, Modi of 2014 and Modi of 2026 are all the same.
Dear @DCP_IFSO , can you confirm whether your officers are the ones who picked up former Additional Secretary, GOI Ashish Joshi (@bismil_prasad) from Nehru Park this morning and have been interrogating him since then?
I urge you to read this story
Bengali Muslim workers in Delhi pushed at gunpoint into Bangladesh
They wander for days without food
They struggle to return but are beaten by BSF soldiers
Is this the humane inclusive country our freedom fighters fought for?

@AshutoshRanka I hope that you are able to recognise that Muslim or Dalit or any minority community member is targeted more than others. Please acknowledge the anti Muslim and Dalit ideology that the BJP espouses.
The usual suspects in the media are celebrating Tarun Tejpal's conviction but stay silent on Brij Bhushan's acquittal. While Tejpal's crimes are rightly being condemned, it is clear that these parasites only care about women when they can settle political scores. #TarunTejpal
The Union Government of India used its entire ecosystem including police, media and social media followers to get 4 kids to post apology videos. A very impressive achievement.
