Retired primary teacher, ESL teacher in China for 6 years, father and grandfather. I enjoy music, reading, movies, and tutoring Chinese students online.
@Faeshan2 @grumpyoldfool62 Sorry to hear of your experience in China, Sharon. I lived in China for 6 years from 2013, 18 months after the death of my wife, and I did encounter a little racism, but for the most part I was treated more like an honoured guest. China has changed a lot in the last 30 years.
@7NewsAdelaide I'm not South Australian but I am an Australian who loves and values our native wildlife. I am shocked and horrified by what these loggers are doing. It HAS to stop!
@BklynContractor@fopminui @Morbidful Ah, looked again at the photo you were referencing, inside a train carriage. I thought the story took place in a train station, otherwise how could people just keep walking by?
@3YearLetterman@taylorswift13 First of all, her name is Taylor. Secondly, get your geography right. She toured Australia, not Austria. You know, the smallest continent in the Southern Hemisphere? Where kangaroos come from? Former British colony?
Names on a list. Elderly harassed. Children frightened. Academics and artists targeted. Afraid. This is how it began 100 years ago. It was wrong then, and it's not ok now.

@Peter_Fitz Would love to read it but it's behind a paywall. I think Jelena is an excellent commentator, and I really admire the way she has survived the traumas of her younger years.
@grumpyoldfool62 Good on you Peter. I admire and respect your decision. My day is being spent baking some wholesome bread, and watching the tennis on TV. I would like to see the date changed to March 3, the signing of the Australia Act in 1986, when we actually became fully independent of Britain
