100% agree. βKnow their stuffβ to me is a deep understanding of the curriculum they are teaching (from PL), the why behind it, and the progression of skills taught throughout school. Itβs so much more than delivering a scripted curriculum.
No system of interventions can make up for teaching students below grade-level in their core instruction. Additional time and support must be provided in addition toβand not in place ofβaccess to new grade-level essential curriculum.
Greeting students at the door is more than being present in supervision. Itβs an opportunity to connect and assess the readiness of each student for preparedness to learn, & to be proactive in meeting emotional needs before dysregulation becomes apparent to all.
