Remember, as we head into so-called "spooky season", please do not use antimemetic materials or symbology in your costumes. Luckily we haven't had trouble with it before, but you can never be too careful.
Shockingly, 17% reported skipping an access code. That means that 1 in 5 #HigherEd students are being priced out of fully participating in class. #TextbookBroke#EdTech
@maxkreminski yes I was thinking about that! I assume you'd just need some kind of syllable-parsing library which would be a mess, but otherwise much the same
it seems like something that could also be used for constraint writing which I've always found very neat
while browsing free online courses that thousands of people can take at once, I hit one button in my music app to teach an artificially intelligent algorithm more about my music preferences, and I just realized I live in the future
@jarhill0 more recently, a professor accidentally sent out a link enabling several students to log in to the course evals website as a department chair
@jarhill0 hey I found that one too! I figured out my room a week before they released it using that. it's gone now probably because I asked them about it
I’ve been noticing a dangerous polarization in our discussions around navigating our way through the pandemic. Reopening is said to be playing games with people’s lives. Continuing stay at home measures is said to be without regard for the economy. This is a false choice. 1/
@NguyenLuce Caveats: this assumes that it correctly categorizes every criminal as a criminal, which is unlikely because this seems pretty bogus all around. I'm not a face scientist but I don't think you can just do that
@NguyenLuce I'd guess "80% accuracy" means "20% false positives." If it's correct 80% of the time, but only 5% of the population is criminals, then it could be miscategorizing up to ~18% of innocents as criminals. (And this is generous for several reasons: cont'd)
ICLR Town: Pokemon-esque environment to wander around and bump into people, which syncs almost seamlessly with video-chatting capabilities.
