FACE OF A HERO! ❤️🫡🇮🇳
Courage and heroism have a face now. And that face belongs to Captain Smit Machchhar. 🇮🇳
Despite being seriously injured himself, he found the strength to fight back and help save almost 180 lives in mid-air. What an extraordinary human being!
Even if he were not an Indian, my admiration and applause would have been just as heartfelt. But knowing he is one of our own makes my pride double, triple!🇮🇳❤️🇮🇳
As a nervous flyer, I also keep thinking about the people inside that aircraft. What must they have felt as the plane suddenly plunged thousands of feet? The fear, the helplessness, the uncertainty of those moments are difficult to imagine.🥹🥹
My salute also to the passengers and crew who stepped forward to help, the pilots who brought everyone safely to the ground, and the medical teams caring for Captain Machchhar.🙏
At a time when we hear so much about the worst in people, such courage reminds us of the best we are capable of. Even in terrible danger, a human being can find the strength to protect others.
Captain Smit Machchhar, my salute to you, my friend. Lots and lots of love. May you recover soon and return to a world waiting to give you a hero’s welcome.
You have made us proud. Jai Hind! 🙏🇮🇳
When this happened, Jalal told me he knows Smit since flying school and had always known him to be someone he’d want by his side in a difficult situation.
It made me think about how much courage Smit must have had, right from the beginning, for the people around him to recognise it so early on.
What Smit did in that moment was nothing short of extraordinary. It takes immense courage to stay strong and put others first when you’re facing something so terrifying yourself.
Sending him all my respect and wishing him a speedy recovery.
Ive just woken up to the news that Jason Arday has taken his own life. And firstly I want to send condolences to his family. This is terribly sad news.
I ain’t saying what Jason done was right.
But does someone deserve to be hounded and publicly destroyed until they feel there’s no way back? Absolutely not!!
I know a little bit about media and social-media pile-ons myself. I had it last year. It was terrible. I had Thousands of people who had never met me suddenly think they knew everything about me just from a headline. It was horrible. Luckily I’m a tough old bastard and I’ve got an amazing family and good people around me. We carried on.
But not everybody can cope with all that pressure. And it is proper pressure.
We’ve seen over sad tragedies with Caroline Flack, Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon. They was all different people and had different circumstances, but how many times are we gonna say “BE KIND” after somebody dies, then forget about it a week later?
The press should investigate wrongdoing and hold people accountable. That’s their jobs. But report the facts, give people a chance to answer and remember there is a REAL HUMAN BEING behind that headline. All I had was half truths & exaggerations put in the press about me last year. So I know how it works.
BTW I ain’t no saint. I’ve made loads of mistakes. We all have. That is called being a human.
Accountability matters. But so does humanity.
So listen you lovely lot. Check in on ya mates. Look after each other. And before you join the next pile-on, remember there’s a real person on the other side of that screen.
There is ALWAYS another day. There is ALWAYS a way back.
So rest in peace Jason.
Wishing you all a lovely Saturday.
Bosh❤️

I am in tears. That was beautiful from our amazing woman Balvinder and Julien. Honestly, her strength to come back week after week and then give us that performance - nothing short of magical. I adore her! #Strictly#StrictlyComeDancing https://t.co/mNl2ZzsAgc
Forget all those dance off’s, you just cannot keep this woman back. What spirit!
Come on Bal & Julian. That was so beautiful.🤜🏻

A working family now needs £71k just to match the income of a jobless 3-child household.
This morning Starmer will claim he’ll cut welfare, but EVERYONE knows he hiked taxes to record levels to fund a bloated welfare state. Spare us. He rewards dependency, not work. Don’t believe a word he says.
Some actors don’t just entertain us, they become part of our homes, our jokes and our daily routines. #SatishShah ji was one of them. His comic timing made ordinary moments unforgettable. Offering my deepest condolences to his family and well wishers 🙏
Grew up watching the incredible comic timing and charisma of Asrani ji. A true icon of Indian cinema. His legacy will live on forever. My condolences to his family and fans. 🙏
I've just turned my phone on after Yom Kippur, when like many British Jews I go out of digital contact. I've just felt a visceral shock of such terrible news. My thoughts and prayers with all affected in Manchester. We cannot allow division and hatred to rule. I'm proudly British, my family have been in the UK for many generations. I believe this is one of the great tolerant societies that revels in, and should be proud of, freedom of worship for all, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus and more. These individuals seeking to divide us will not win. We must not let them.
