Diarrhoea is 3rd leading cause of death in India, in the under 5 age group. It accounts for 13 percent of the deaths in the under 5 age group.Rehydration with the appropriate liquids including WHO recommended formula ORS is crucial for correct rehydration, and to prevent diarrhoea related hospitalizations, and deaths. Whenever a parent goes to the pharmacy and asks for ORS, the parent is being given ORSL or RebalanzVitORS. These drinks have much higher sugar than that recommended for WHO recommended formula ORS, and actually worsen the Diarrhoea.After a lot of to and fro communication with the FSSAI, CDSCO, and the Health Ministry, we have been able to get FSSAI to ask these companies, on 8th April 2022, through an order, to remove the misleading labels. In July 2022, FSSAI went back on the order and continued to allow these companies to use the misleading labels with a disclaimer, 'this is not an ORS'.Point to note is that, behind, on the pack of ORSL, it's already mentioned, 'do not give during diarrhoea'.
So, the questions here are
1. What made FSSAI revert the order?
2. Is it OK to have dubious misleading labels as long as there is a disclaimer?
3. Are the businesses of these big companies more important than the lives of children?
Now, pediatric bodies have been approached to join the PIL filed against the misleading labels
The questions are
1. Why are corporate hospitals selling ORSL and RebalanzVitORS as ORS?
2. The judiciary which was initially reluctant to take up the PIL filed by me, suddenly took up the matter seriously, and again, suddenly started pushing the file backwards.
The questions are
1. If the judiciary too cannot expedite such a pertinent matter, who does the common man turn to?
2. Why is the judiciary pushing this extremely important issue backwards?
I have written to the PMO's office about the same, and the file (PMOPG/E/2023/0099927) was closed without offering any solution to this matter.
So, who do I turn to, for addressing this issue of deceptive and misleading labels jeopardizing the health and lives of our children?!

Pls help me with this. Children, old people, people with diabetes, and all others deserve to get to buy and drink the correct WHO recommended formula ORS to correct dehydration and PREVENT DIARRHOEAL DEATHS.
DO NOT BUY ORSL, REBALANZVITORS etc which are high sugar drinks which will worsen the diarrhoea. Please read the disclaimers on their labels that THEY SHOULDN'T BE GIVEN DURING DIARRHOEA AND THAT THEY ARE NOT ORS.
