पिछले एक सप्ताह से राजनीतिक गलियारों और मीडिया में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल के संभावित फेरबदल को लेकर अटकलों का दौर जारी है। जहाँ एक और अंतिम निर्णय पर सबकी नजरें टिकी हुई हैं, लेकिन पंजाब में 2027 के विधानसभा चुनाव���ं को देखते हुए केंद्र सरकार में सिख प्रतिनिधित्व को मजबूत करना एक महत्वपूर्ण राजनीतिक संदेश के रूप में देखा जा रहा है।

चर्चाओं के अनुसार केंद्रीय मंत्री हरदीप सिंह पुरी के मंत्रिमंडल से बाहर होने की संभावना है, जबकि रवनीत सिंह बिट्टू के पंजाब की राजनीति पर पूर्ण रूप से ध्यान केंद्रित करने की उम्मीद है। ऐसे में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल में एक नए सिख चेहरे के लिए जगह बन सकती है।

जिन विश्वसनीय नामों की चर्चा हो रही है, उनमें पंजाब से राज्यसभा सांसद पद्मश्री डॉ. विक्रमजीत सिंह साहनी भी शामिल हैं। वे हार्वर्ड से पड़े है, विश्व पंजाबी संगठन के अंतरराष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष है । लंबे समय से भाजपा के निकट माने जाने वाले साहनी अपनी स्वच्छ छवि, समाजसेवा तथा परोपकारी कार्यों के लिए जाने जाते हैं। वे पंजाब में कई शहरों में निःशुल्क कौशल विकास केंद्रों और नशा मुक्ति केंद्रों का संचालन कर रहे हैं, जिनके माध्यम से पंजाब के हजारों युवाओं को प्रशिक्षण और रोजगार उपलब्ध कराया जा रहा है।
