Kālidāsa called it Chātak. Birders call it the Jacobin Cuckoo. The Pied Crested Cuckoo is considered to be the harbinger of monsoon clouds. There are multiple folk lores about the same bird, all related to the rains.

Sikkim Blood Pheasant is a resident bird of the Eastern Himalayas. This very vocal bird moves to higher elevations during the summer and moves to lower altitudes in winter. The subspecies found in Arunachal, Bhutan,Tibet and Nepal can be differentiated by colour of their heads.

The Spoon-billed Sandpiper is listed as critically #endangered by @IUCNRedList. Fewer than 200 estimated in the #wild, It's never been recorded breeding over 5 km from the shore. Destruction of #wetlands is a huge threat to this #bird.
