BILLBOARD Names #SHINee’s "Atmos" on of The Best K-pop Album of 2026 — “SHINee Still Sounds Like No One Else & Refuses to Deliver Just One Tone or Color.”

📰: SHINee’s sixth mini album arrived in June on the group’s 18th anniversary with a house-driven title track kicking things off, sounding like another classic single for the long-running group. The disco-lacquered “Hours” delivers a similar uplift, followed by the surging synth-pop of “Possibility” that never loses a sense of hope thanks in large part to the members’ impactful falsetto runs.

But if the first half of Atmos is all about carrying the light and embodying its title, the last three tracks offer darker shades. “Anti Believer” opens on a hard electro pulse with a near-drone chant on the chorus (“Who made me an anti believer? Hate that I’m an anti believer”) even as the harmonies stay precisely layered.

“Still Raining” and “Thousand Miles Away” lean further into the dark without ever letting go of the thread of hope, all proving how nearly two decades (and a generation of trends) later, SHINee still sounds like no one else, and refuses to deliver just one tone or color. – J.B.

I just finished watching Monarch: Legacy of Monsters up to episode 10.
I've been watching "Gare-Godzi" for a long time because I don't hate it, but I'm not really interested in the history of Monarch, and I was sick and tired of the cutbacks to the character's past every episode. The innovative casting of Kurt Russell and his son, and the use of Mari Yamamoto are great. However, although I understand the emphasis is on drama, there are too few monster scenes in each episode. Moreover, it is not satisfying to see only a few insect-like "monsters" rather than "Toho monsters”. I want to see well-designed monsters. I can imagine that there is a "Toho restriction”.

However, the last episode was wonderful. The characters have been carefully portrayed, and their reunion brought tears to my eyes. The film and the drama were well connected. I also enjoyed the monster battle at the end. I want to watch season 2, not just connect it to the movie. #MonarchLegacyofMonsters

On July 14, #MINO appeared as a witness at the third hearing in the trial of Supervisor A, who is charged with violating the Military Service Act.

Mino has firmly denied allegations that he conspired with his public service supervisor to violate South Korea's Military Service Act during his mandatory service. While explaining that his panic disorder and bipolar disorder made it difficult to perform his duties normally, he acknowledged that he bears responsibility for his inadequate service.

When asked why he had been assigned to public service instead of active military duty, Mino stated:

"It was because of my bipolar disorder and panic disorder, which I had been suffering from for some time. Bipolar disorder is an illness where episodes of mania and depression recur, while panic disorder causes sudden panic attacks in unexpected situations."

He added that although his condition was moderate at the beginning of his service, it fluctuated over time.

"As my service progressed, there were periods when my symptoms worsened and periods when they improved. The illness itself is unpredictable."

Mino also testified that although medication helped manage his symptoms, its side effects often left him mentally sluggish during the day.

"The medication was very strong, so there were times when I felt mentally foggy even during the daytime."

He said these effects made both his daily life and his public service duties difficult.

Mino further claimed that his treating physicians had concluded he was unfit to continue serving, and that the Military Manpower Administration had also expressed concerns about his suitability for service.

Despite this, he said:

"I wanted to complete my service until the very end. Looking back now, that's something I regret."
