I mean, we should keep whoever overlaid nature. It’s pretty epic simulation. There sure is a lot of scientific detail. So Is all of this really just the result of gods prompt - the word, from that space? Yann LeCun just told the most well-funded industry in human history it is solving the wrong problem.

LeCun: “Babies learn this around the age of eight or nine months, that objects don’t float, they fall.”

No dataset. No labels. No reward signal.

A nine month old drops a spoon and builds a physics engine no machine can match.

LeCun: “Most of us can learn to drive in about 20 or 30 hours of training without ever crashing, causing any accident.”

Twenty hours.

Tesla has built the most capable driving system on the road. It took billions of miles of data to get there. A sixteen year old gets there over a long weekend.

Not because the teenager is the better driver.

Because the teenager is not learning to drive. They are deploying a model of reality they have been building since birth.

LeCun: “If we drive next to a cliff, we know that if we turn the wheel to the right, the car is going to run off the cliff and nothing good is going to come out of this.”

You simulate the crash. You see the wreckage. You feel the fall. You turn the wheel.

None of it was real. All of it was intelligence.

Every AI has to crash a thousand times to learn what you imagined once and never did.

That is not a performance gap. That is an architecture gap.

LeCun: “The main problem we need to solve is how do we learn models of the world.”

Not bigger models. Not more compute. Not another trillion tokens.

World models. A machine that can run reality forward before it acts.

The industry is scaling language.

LeCun says language is a compression of thought. Not thought itself.

You understood gravity before you could say the word.

You grasped cause and effect before your first sentence.

The deepest intelligence you will ever possess was built in total silence.

And every lab on Earth is trying to reconstruct the mind from words alone.

Physics does not care about your context window.

A baby who learns that cups fall in a kitchen already knows that rocks fall off cliffs. No retraining. No fine-tuning. One model. Every environment.

That is what intelligence actually is.

Not prediction. Not pattern matching. Not scale.

A simulation of reality so precise you rehearse the future before it exists.

Every infant on Earth builds one.

No machine ever has.

I’ll admit that when Pauline Hanson insisted on a monoculture in Australia, I wasn’t convinced.

My initial reaction was that multiculturalism isn’t the problem - the erosion of a shared national culture is.

Politically, I thought monoculture was the wrong word to describe a real and growing problem many of us feel.

But I was wrong.

Monoculture isn’t the opposite of multiculturalism.

Ethnic diversity and a shared national culture aren’t mutually exclusive.

Secularism, liberal democracy and equality before the law are themselves products of Western culture.

People can maintain distinct ethnic and religious identities whilst participating in a broader Australian culture.

That doesn’t mean everyone is the same - it just means there’s a dominant common culture that binds us together.

The difference comes down to assimilation.

Most Australians, including migrants, expect newcomers to make an effort to assimilate.

Learn the language, get to know the locals and try to participate in their traditions.

Those expectations don’t undermine multiculturalism - they’re essential to its success.

Those who find offence in this really haven’t thought it through - or worse, they’re using a unifying concept to push division.

One wonders what modern Australia actually offers them.

This isn’t inclusion — it’s exclusion dressed as social justice.

The meanings in this exchange are a good summary of the magic that was lost in the new movies. Cos we’ve forgotten about these subjects and focused on culture wars. Not all media needs to be a depressing morality lecture given one self perceived (and often objectively wrong) noble take. Bring back yoda’s representation of strength and his ability to transcend dark side forces new manifestations of power by understanding the force at a deeper level. That is exactly the sort of thing an ancient order of Jedi’s would hand down to the last Jedi even among risk of annihilation.

The problem is we’ve had a world where there is good pathways and framing of issues/solutions on both “sides” but we somehow end up with the most depraved version of each side when they get into power. And then we all are motivated by outrage at the other side. We can’t allow this blatant manipulation in the future having chats like this remedies that.

We often debate if house prices should fall.

And it's natural for those who've benefitted from rising house prices to want it to continue.

This is no longer “temporary anti-terror legislation.”
It is now permanent law giving ASIO police-state style powers over every day Australian citizens.
What the bill actually does: Removes the sunset clause — these powers are now permanent
Allows compulsory questioning of children as young as 14
Lets the Attorney-General personally issue questioning warrants — no court approval required
Makes it a criminal offence to tell anyone (including your family) that you’ve been questioned
Gives ASIO the power to reject your chosen lawyer and severely restricts what your lawyer can do or say during questioning
Strips away your right to silence — you must answer their questions or face jail

This is not about catching terrorists anymore.
This is about giving an intelligence agency the power to secretly drag any Australian in for interrogation without suspecting you of any crime.
106 politicians just voted to hand ASIO these powers.
Only 8 had the courage to vote No.
Your right to remain silent?
Your right to proper legal defense?
Your right to know when the state is targeting you? Gone. Eroded. Normalised.
This is how freedoms die — not with a bang, but with a quiet division in Parliament House.

That is exactly what Australia's Prime Minister is doing over the fuel crisis, blaming it on everyday families who are 'hoarding' fuel.

This is how he does it: set up a false binary and invite viewers to self identify with a noble majority, channel all anger toward a hated and imaginary minority, then threaten the noble majority with pain so they blame it on the minority.

It's the identical public relations playbook deployed during Covid. And it works.
