@Angry_Staffer Eliminating the tax does NOT stop inflation, it just sets the price expected to continue to rise back. Inflation would continue, just applied to a (slightly) reduced starting point. They assume that over the period of the tax hiatus 80% of the reduction would reach consumers.

@tribelaw It is so easy, after the fact and with the benefit of hindsight, to see the obvious, adopt a superior attitude and find fault (or something more sinister) in those who failed to pick up what was going on as it was happening.

@SpevansEvans @Angry_Staffer I don't understand the linkage drawn between these issues. They are not mutually exclusive. We don't have to choose one over the other. Addressing inflation does not make it impossible to preserve democracy; or vice versa. Both are serious; both need to be addressed.
