Victor Davis Hanson just delivered the definitive breakdown of what the so-called anti-war movement actually is — and it has nothing to do with war.

Start with what's happening in the streets. In New York, protesters are proudly waving 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐬 — the hammer and sickle — at anti-war rallies. In Philadelphia, a masked speaker called for the defeat of America and cheered on 𝐜��𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝. Hanson noted the irony: "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘧𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐𝘊𝘌, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘰��𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘦𝘴, 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘎𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰-𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥." But these protesters mask up and nobody blinks.

Then he exposed the double standard that makes the hysteria possible. "𝘖𝘣𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝟧𝟢𝟢 𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘴∗𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘪 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘧𝘨𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳. 𝘕𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘣𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦. Not a single protest. Not a single communist flag.

And now CNN is broadcasting from inside Iran with the permission of the theocratic regime. Hanson's comparison: "𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘕𝘢𝘻𝘪 𝘎𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘞𝘢𝘳 𝘐𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘳."

But the deepest cut was Hanson's big-picture argument. 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 promised to deal with Iran. Carter, Reagan, both Bushes, Clinton, Obama, Biden — not one of them did. Trump is the only president who actually acted. He removed Maduro in Venezuela with zero U.S. fatalities. Cuba is cracking under pressure with no one left to bail it out — not China, not Russia, not Venezuela. And Iran's military is in ruins. "𝘏𝘦'𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 ����𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘸 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘫𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘦."

Hanson's verdict: "𝘐𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯, ��𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘥 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘱 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘰-𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦." Weakened China. Weakened Russia. Weakened radical Islam. A convergence of moderate Arabs and Israel. Punished the country that has k!lled more Americans than any other terrorist entity. Solved Cuba since 1959. All in about a year.
