One day, I hope that certain politicians in our nation will value the lives of living beings as much as they value the 2nd Amendment or the desire to control women's bodies or pretty much anything else. When will this stop!?!
Absolutely heartbroken. And angry. Very angry. This should not be acceptable. Ever. Do we choose a different path? How can we not? These children. So many children.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg once said, “women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn't be that women are the exception.”
Well, now her statue will be in the halls of Congress too.
At some point in our lives, we all experience situations when we get knocked down by people and/or circumstances when we least expect it. However, how you react speaks volumes to your character, resiliency, and resolve.
There’s so much on the ballot this year: voting rights, a woman’s fundamental right to make her own health care decisions and much more. So in five months on November 8, we’ve got to get mad and get to the polls.
Corporate greed is Tyson Foods raising the price of beef by 35% while its owner became $1.6 billion richer during the pandemic, its profits skyrocketed by 140% last quarter to $1.12 billion and its CEO got a 22% raise last year to $14 million. It’s not inflation. It's greed.
I pray for all those in harm’s way. I pray for all who desperately yearn for peace. I pray for some way out with a minimal loss of life. I pray for hope, and the wisdom of our leaders in a time of peril.
This Senate has confirmed 46 federal judges under President Biden. 3/4 have been women. 2/3 have been people of color.
And they’ve all been highly qualified. Public defenders. Civil rights and election lawyers. People with public-service experience.
We’re going to keep going.
John Lewis knew that change could not wait for some other person or some other time. His life was a lesson in the fierce urgency of now. On his birthday, let’s honor his legacy by taking action and creating the change we hope to see in our own communities.

Today I'm thinking of the janitors, the cafeteria workers, the cooks, and all the service people who were also inside of the Capitol building on January 6th. I cannot imagine what a frightening time it was for them and their families. They deserve so much better than that.
