Dr. Ramly thank you for taking the time to answer questions for the UofA #DNP #ERNURS751 students. When confronted with professional (Knowledge, Skills, & Attitudes) barriers what is the most effective methods of overcoming that challenge?

@ramlyed 2/2 In my experience it took a persistent RN to advocate for regional anesthesia techniques in this patient population. The RN had to coordinate all the stakeholders. Furthermore, the standard of thoracic epidural is contraindicated w/thoracic fx. This is not an issue w/ PVN.

@ramlyed My CPG idea of paravertebral blocks in multi-rib fracture patients the barriers in my experience as a bedside trauma RN I found interdisciplinary barriers to be an issue. Multiple stakeholders had to "buy-in" then anesthesia needed to perform the procedure at their convenience.

@JeRuel555 Not sure I have the answer but creating systems that reduce redundancy and actually communicate to auto complete previously charted data. For example I&O's it should be standard that the EHR recognize what IV meds you scanned and auto-suggest intake. 1/2
