Going through photos on my phone and got a bit nostalgic with all the mangrove pictures from Kulhudhuffushi. Going to tweet out a couple of them. All photos taken by me for @IndependentMV.
The life and times of #KulhudhuffushiKulhi.
From the IOTC meeting in Male last month:
- Yellowfin tuna stock management measures fall below the recommendations by its own scientists.
- No new proposals to regulate drifting FADs since a 72-day annual closure proposed three years ago was blocked by EU and France.
Brilliant. The only way to check who's under 16 is to check everyone. So congrats, the real feature isn't protecting kids, it's that nobody gets to be anonymous anymore.
And honestly? I can't think of a single way to actually do this that doesn't end with everyone identified. That's not a flaw in the plan. That's the plan. #maldives
Created a black market.
Couldn't do anything to stop the black market though the sellers are no secret.
Now plans to rolls back these changes without fixing any of the problems they created.
Classic #Muizzuvun
It has been less than a month since reclamation was completed for an airport the island didn’t even need
Currently:
- The Harbour is black and full of dead fish
- The island’s famous Sikundi Kulhi mangrove is dying
Should island councils keep a cap on number of guest houses? We are losing the concept of "local island" with this kind of over tourism. This is unsustainable in the long run.
Muizzu guarantees freedom of speech.
What he cannot guarantee is your freedom after the speech.
The journalist raised questions about late night calls. The punishment was imprisonment, solitary confinement, late night raids and sleep deprivation.
Everyday 1000s of scam calls originate from the prisons and these people find a phone conveniently from the cell of 2 journalists. Can't seem to find phones or stop scam calls coming from the prison though. 🤷🏽♂️
Just the usual Bermuda Triangle type shit we deal with in Mordis.
