I also pay tribute to the Ugandan community leaders and volunteers across the 9 provinces of South Africa, who worked tirelessly to identify vulnerable Ugandans, provide shelter, mobilise support, and coordinate with Government throughout this challenging period. Your selflessness made a real difference.
To our brothers and sisters who have returned home, we wish you strength and courage as you begin a new chapter. While many have lost businesses, employment and personal belongings, we believe that with resilience, family support and the opportunities available back home, brighter days lie ahead.
Yesterday, we witnessed the successful conclusion of Phase I of the voluntary repatriation of Ugandan nationals from South Africa with the safe arrival of the final group at Entebbe International Airport.
