No Black person I know wants me to feel guilty, which would make it about me. When white people express guilt, they are putting the burden on the Black person to take care of them - again. They want me to take action to break down the systems which perpetuate racism.
#BREAKING The Texas parole board just recommended posthumous clemency for #GeorgeFloyd.
This is for the 2004 drug charge he got in Houston, when he was arrested by a cop now accused of fabricating informants.
Now, the decision moves to @GovAbbott.

20 years ago, I heard about 9/11 on the radio in Afghanistan. At 18, I couldn’t imagine buildings so tall or why someone would kill so many people. Soon after, I was sold to the US & sent to #Guantanamo. 8 years later, when I saw video of 9/11 for the first time,
❤️❤️❤️ HBD, Devon. Will never get over coming home from seeing Casper as a ~10yo and collapsing onto my bed in tears as I realized we’d never be together.
As people look forward to the long holiday weekend, reminder that also Confederate Heroes' Day is still a holiday on the official Texas state agencies' holiday calendar. For 2021.

Excellent and critical editorial from @HuntsvilleItem
"Executions cannot and should not take place secret in the United States."

When the government deliberately takes the life of one of its own citizens, the absolute least the public should expect is to know how it's done. The @TDCJ denied every Texan that right tonight. They should be outraged that something like this is even possible.
Having witnessed executions myself, I can’t overstate how important it is for the media to be a part of them.
Officials reports never tell the full picture of what happens when the state wields its greatest power over life.
This transparency is necessary.
