Secondly, engaging on your level, certainly, I am paying far less than 2% of my income, property and net worth to Israel, but, then again, in all likelihood, I make a lot more than you do and am probably a lot better at legally avoiding taxes than you are. My giant bank of solar cells is a great example. Thanks for funding that for me! Hawaii, where we live about half the year or so, has the highest electricity rates in the USA, and your tax dollars helped fund my cells. Thanks again!

If you're asking me to discuss the topic more, I surely will, though. Once an area becomes an Islamic rule, there's also a taxation system that comes into play. Non-believers are taxed at different rates, a lower rate for Christians and Jewish people ("people of the book."), and a higher rate for everyone else, such as Buddhists and Shinto... or both, like many people in Japan.

The tax is called "Jizya." It's discussed primarily in Quran 9:29.

There's also a land/property tax for non-believers, called "Kharaj." That's usually a percentage of the land's yield, and it is... quite high, between 25-33%.

Then, we get to the whole "Dhimmi" bit, which you might find interesting given your heritage. That's called "Ushur". It's basically a sales tax. A Dhimmi is basically a merchant in his own country after it becomes controlled by Islam. Dhimmi merchants were taxed 5%, and non-Muslim foreigners from outside the state were taxed 10%.

I grew up on a dairy. Cows aren't telepathic. There's an Appalachian phrase here that is applicable: "They are so dumb that they are smart." Here is what that means:

Individually, they aren't that smart, but collectively? Yeah. They do some great stuff. It's a little like bees. Individually, bees have a brain the size of a grain of sand and yet, they manage to communicate to other bees where the flowers are. It just so happens that we've figured out how bees do it. Cows are significantly smarter than bees.

It's just like that. Both organisms are similar - a hive mentality is very similar to a herd mentality. Blow that up and think about it: each brain cell that we have is about as smart as a stick, but collectively, with all of the brain cells working together, somehow consciousness emerges.

No magic required, just herd behavior.
