Coach Scott Forbes (@CoachForbes_UNC) on the @DiamondHeels team's super power being a four letter word that everyone defines differently:
❤️ Love = Time.
The clearest way to measure what a person truly values isn't by what they say, it's by where they invest their time. Attention is love's most valuable currency. We don't give our hours to things that don't matter. If you want to know what you love, look at your calendar.
🗣️ Tough love hits differently when it comes from a teammate.
Coaches can correct. Leaders can challenge. But there's a unique power when players hold other players accountable. Peer-to-peer standards create ownership. The culture becomes stronger when excellence is enforced horizontally, not just vertically.
🪞 True love has no agenda except what's best for the person you love.
Real love isn't telling people what they want to hear. It's caring enough to tell them what they need to hear. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is deliver a hard truth, because growth often begins where comfort ends. @CWSOmaha #MCWS #RoadToOmaha
🔔 ✈️ After 23 years living with sickle cell disease, Daniel Cressy just rang the bell—making history as the first person in Louisiana to be functionally cured through this groundbreaking gene therapy at Manning Family Children’s! This transformational cure isn’t just ending years of pain, but it is also putting him back in the cockpit, making possible his dream of becoming a pilot.
Using his own blood stem cells—genetically modified so his body now makes healthy hemoglobin that doesn't sickle—our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders expert care team brought a cure found at only a handful of centers nationwide, home to Louisiana. About 100 days ago, Daniel received his gene therapy infusion. Today, his cells are no longer sickling, and his blood is normal for the first time in his life.
A milestone like this takes a team. Thank you to Daniel, his family & friends, our expert care team at Manning Family Children’s and @LCMCHealth— including Dr. Benjamin Watkins with @Tulane@TulaneMedicine and @LSUHealthNO, the State of Louisiana & @LADeptHealth, and every leader who stood with us today— @JeffLandry, @RepTroyCarter, and @HelenaMorenoLA.
We're so proud to have walked this journey alongside Daniel and his family here at Manning Family Children's. And this is just the beginning—through his organization @PrivilegedPilots, Daniel is already helping others chase the dreams they were told they couldn't achieve as he returns to flight training himself. 🛫
For Daniel, the sky is now the limit! And he's only the first.
