@andrewhesselden Joys of social media. Always someone who wants to misinterpret, play the victim, take a contrary view etc. Keep up the great work Andrew
Reversing #Brexit will take as long as you want it to.
Seriously: enough of this nonsense about how it will take 15-20 years or how the EU won’t accept the UK.
Let’s start by restoring FOM of people and trying to join the Single Market again. We’ve not got a moment to lose.
Thankfully even the Telegraph is raising the alarm over the excessive level of border controls that Brexit now means British and European people are subject to.
THREAD 1. I'm constantly frustrated by the inability of politicians across Europe (especially in the UK) to agree and broker an adequate outcome to Brexit for the Citizens of Europe (including British people) #SaveFOM
Under pretence of “controlling borders” UK has changed nothing and gives European visitors to UK 6 months of visa-free access.
Meanwhile UK Ministers are deaf to the urgent travel needs of British people with homes in Europe or who travel frequently. @FCDOGovUK@EU_Commission
Don’t let anyone tell you that “British people voted for this (mess)”. The mess is entirely of the government’s making by promising they could deliver what they have not succeeded (yet) in negotiating.
Is this kind of level of border control absolutely necessary UK Gov? Portugal? EU Commission? This can’t be good for anyone since Brexit. What does it achieve?
Suella Braverman says the backlog of people crossing the channel is not a consequence of Brexit. We left the EU and every passport now needs a check and that is what causes the delay. It did not have to be done when we were in the EU. She says those waiting should be patient whilst the Ferry Companies work through the backlog? They don't check passports? A minister of state very intellectually challenged!
Many non EU countries (eg USA, NZ, Japan, Canada) have bilateral agreements with Schengen countries that improve mobility for people who want to visit different Schengen countries consecutively. https://t.co/Wl1PxNT3QJ
The #Brexit deal the UK government negotiated is so bad for British travellers that even New Zealanders have better access to Schengen zone countries, thanks to an array of bilateral deals. And it not just New Zealanders that have this. https://t.co/rW9AmfAtIa
@jmalbares@DominicRaab Good news. I hope you managed to get the 90 days in 180 situation for UK nationals visiting Spain into the conversation. The UK welcomes Spanish visitors without such limitation and this is doing neither economy any service.
@UKinNZ Does feel like someone has got it in for us. Booked on Singapore on 25th - on 24th Singapore closed. Booked Singapore 29th - on 27th nz van internal flights. Eventually spend 14500 dollars to get home on the 9th and today they announce a cheap flight on the 8th. 😖
