NCP corporator Amol Balwadkar has lost his entire ₹12 crore budget allocation after he sought a special audit of development works linked to Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil. The BJP-led Pune Municipal Corporation administration brought a proposal to cancel Balwadkar's funds during Wednesday's general body meeting, and it was passed with a strong majority of 73 votes to 11. The trouble started when Balwadkar and fellow NCP corporator Suhas Tingre asked for an audit of four development works worth ₹38.15 lakh in the Kothrud area, works connected to funds associated with Patil. During the meeting, things got heated between Balwadkar, PMC House Leader Ganesh Bidkar, and Leader of Opposition Nilesh Nikam, with Bidkar making it clear that BJP-NCP cooperation would not extend to Pune's civic body going forward. Balwadkar tried to speak on the matter but Mayor Manjusha Nagpure did not allow him to address the House before voting took place. The Congress stayed neutral and did not take sides in the dispute.
