@ml_defard and I have written an opinion piece for @Euractiv about what we believe to be an overlooked element that could significantly impact the EU’s 2040 energy and climate targets—the EU enlargement process.

We explored how the unique energy starting points of new EU members—especially those heavily reliant on fossil fuels or with outdated energy infrastructure—might affect the Union’s ability to achieve its 2040 goals.
