@LMeansBusiness @AccpPeriopPRN There is limited data to support celecoxib/ketorolac for immediate post-op pain control for bariatric surgery. For long term use it would be preferable to choose one that is COX-2 selective (celecoxib) or one that has a lower potency and shorter half life (ibuprofen). #PeriPRNJC

@LMeansBusiness @AccpPeriopPRN There may be benefit to their use 24 hrs post-op, but the safety within the first 6 months still remains unclear. There may be potential for NSAID use years after surgery, but this will be a risk-benefit analysis specific to each patient. But more data is needed. #PeriPRNJC

@AccpPeriopPRN Based on provider preference we give one time doses of IV ketorolac within the first 24 hours post-op if there is insufficient post-op analgesia. #PeriPRNJC

@AccpPeriopPRN At our institution (VCU) NSAIDs are discouraged in post bariatric surgery, including SG patients. They receive pre-op and post-op education about NSAID avoidance. #PeriPRNJC
