@freddienew@gladstein To have those words and that resolve at 21 years old while you yourself grieving, incredible. Your parents did good, Freddie. Hopefully you didn’t smack your bro too many times with the cricket ball
A group of orcas was captured on camera engaging in what scientists call "ram-to-fragment" behavior.
One whale holds a large sunfish and lets go just before another rams it at high speed, pulverizing the fish into thousands of pieces.
In a new study, scientists say the behavior could be a clever way to feed the young, a form of play, or a combination of both.

Tennessee❤️
When people told us at the beginning of our road trip that people in the South are different, we didn’t really know what they meant. But after spending several weeks here, we finally understand.
The hospitality here is just something else. Everyone knows everyone, and it feels like people are living one big shared life. Someone is always stopping by, doors are always open, and everyone is welcome.
One guy told us he hasn’t locked his house in 23 years. When we were out on the lake, we met some people who immediately invited us to their lake house to hang out. They offered us drinks, chicken wings, and made us feel completely at home. It’s a kind of hospitality I’ve never experienced before.
When we got back to the dock late that night, one of the guys on the boat said something that really stuck with me:
“You don’t have to live in some big, exciting city. What matters is the people who live there. That’s what makes you happy. I’ve lived in many places around the world, but nothing comes close to Ocoee, Tennessee. And you know the best part about living here? We’re going to do the exact same thing again tomorrow.”
We will be back.
A Norwegian can put on a cowboy hat and easily be mistaken for a heritage American. A third worlder can be here for 3 generations and everyone will ask, where are you from. Everyone knows what an American is. They’re just pretending because they hate you.
@RRR0BYN I killed a pit bull once that had latched onto a dachshund, with the little dog's head in its mouth. It wouldn't release despite people trying. I grabbed a can of Axe spray deodorant, got any angle into its throat, and emptied it. The pit bull released, convulsed, and died.
Reading Reddit this morning, and this person in /r/porsche casually drops that his close friend left him enough money when he passed to buy this 911 he's posting.
By the way, that close friend? Kevin Mitnick, the world's most famous hacker.
Oh also by the way, OP was instrumental in providing the primary evidence that ultimately resulted in Kevin's conviction. They became friends, and Kevin left him enough money to buy this car and then some. OP linked a blog post about the entire story and their friendship, but this is the most insane and great story I've read on Reddit in a while.

Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm show on Amazon is the most radicalizing piece of mainstream media I’ve ever seen
Just one example (bear with me):
Badgers became a protected species in Britain 40+ years ago.
The population has exploded and now frequently transmits tuberculosis to cows
But farmers can’t cull the badger population to protect their cattle because the government still considers them to be endangered
Instead of addressing the root cause, the UK has the most batshit testing regime for cattle
There’s no TB vaccine. So the cattle have to get tested. The vets administering the test have to measure welts on the cows neck. Whether a cow lives or dies comes down to a vet trying to discern 1mm on a caliper (reactive vs non reactive).
If a cow tests positive, the farm (already running on super thin margins) is quarantined and starts hemorrhaging money.
Jeremy Clarkson’s cow (pregnant with twins) has an inconclusive test so it’s separated from the herd. It receives a second inconclusive test so they have to kill it (before it can give birth to the twins).
Now here’s the kicker: the autopsy reveals no sign of TB. It was a healthy cow needlessly killed
So - silver lining the farm should be removed from quarantine, right? WRONG - it’s still under quarantine and has to keep testing and can’t sell its beef
Kafkaesque doesn’t even begin to describe how f’d up it is for British farmers
Me watching a documentary about psychopaths and how they "prefer to stay at home, don't have many friends and can get very upset over a minor inconvenience"
Lefties in Seattle didn’t want to host the World Cup because of Trump.
Meanwhile, people in Seattle said screw it and busted out the National Anthem and “Take Me Home, Country Roads” after America’s win.
The left tries to ruin all the fun. Seattle fans didn’t let them. 🇺🇸
Way to step up, Seattle!
