India has achieved the first successful GAGAN-based precision approach by a commercial jet aircraft, bringing India’s indigenous satellite navigation system into mainstream commercial jet operations.

• The milestone was achieved by an IndiGo Airbus A321 at Udaipur Airport.
• India is among the few countries in the world with an indigenous satellite-based augmentation system certified for civil aviation.
• This indigenous technology enables more precise landings without requiring additional ground infrastructure, helping expand precision approach capability across India’s airports.
• For passengers, it means more precise and reliable flight operations, especially during challenging weather conditions.
• With most newly manufactured aircraft now expected to be GAGAN-capable under the DGCA mandate, this milestone paves the way for wider adoption of indigenous satellite navigation across India’s commercial aviation fleet.

The Year 2024 marked a milestone of achievements for the Airports Authority of India, including the successful implementation of #GAGAN (GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation) based Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) procedures at Nine of its Airports.

This advanced technology is similar to the Instrument Landing System #ILS but eliminates the need for Ground-based Landing Aids. The #GAGAN-based #LPV relies on satellite-based navigation, enabling seamless operations even in regions without navigation infrastructure, further enhancing #India's Aviation Capabilities.

GeM, a government e-marketplace, has very poor support in resolving the issues.
Standard response for any issue(share screenshots,videos,backend team wking). Average time taken is one month for ticket resolution.Need to strengthen the help/ support team. @GeM_India

@ANI Lengpui Airport is owned and operated by the Mizoram State Government , GAD department. They don't have expertise in maintaining and operation of Airport. There is a lot of scope for development the airport.This is the only airport in Mizoram.
