Virta is now officially in network w/ @blueshieldofca, signaling a major expansion of our partnership with the state’s largest insurer.
By making it even easier for members to join Virta, BSCA is taking a big step towards reversing this epidemic in CA. https://t.co/9CN6SbwKR8
“Food can be the medicine." Well said by Virta patient Bruce as covered by @NPR, @AubreyNPR and @rachelnpr. We've never been more hopeful about reversing #type2diabetes, and can't wait to discuss more at this week's White House nutrition conference! https://t.co/UPSRUtWVHA
@chrissyfarr 📚 maybe you should talk to someone, such a fun age

My family raises money for lung cancer research so that Dr. Hallberg and my sister's kids don't have to worry about losing their mom. Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer. @LungCancerFaces @ALKLungCancer #lungcancer
Scary yet too common in U.S. healthcare:
"After changing insurance plans, co-pays for my oral meds got too expensive, so I just stopped taking them"
Today: "I no longer need to take Novolog and cut my Lantus dosage in half and trigs 500 => 129mg/dL" https://t.co/wMzs1U8v89
Advice like this diminishes the success of lifestyle interventions such as Virta, which should be offered as a first-line of treatment for metabolic disease.
"Diet and exercise counseling are not considered adequate treatment for children with obesity." 😣 https://t.co/t6FIyFR2dZ
@AlmostMedia@halfwrittensong @techladyallison @chrissyfarr No way to know if it’s related but my sister was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer after multiple rounds of IUI and a successful IVF. No way to know what caused it but one has to wonder about the hormones and stress it puts on the body.
@katiecouric My sister was also diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer at 32 while pregnant. Lung cancer is still massively underfunded because of the stigma. #anyonewithlungscangetlungcancer
There is so much work to be done to fix racism in the US, including in healthcare where Black Americans have higher rates of T2D. We stand with those protesting racial injustices, while acknowledging our role in the relentless, ongoing action required for change #BlackLivesMatter
We are super excited for you Mike and congrats on your success! T2D affects veterans at a rate that is 2x the national average. Thank you for sharing your story and showing people that a lifetime of medications doesn't have to be the norm.
