I just read Manan Ahmed Asif's Disrupted City, a history of Lahore through the writings of its residents over the past thousand years. Lahore has found its historian!

@SW_Columbia@Columbia Congratulations to Student Workers of Columbia University for an intelligently negotiated struggle against great odds and a victory that should be celebrated by all since it is in the interest of all. You never did take your eyes off the prize!
After 10 weeks, the strike is over! We are thrilled to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with @columbia. This is a historic moment for labor in higher ed, and it is just the beginning. We look forward to getting back to work and compensation for our back work.
How did we get into the taxi medallion crisis?
The City.
And now it can help resolve that same crisis by working with @NYTWA to guarantee taxi medallion loans & give drivers a way out of life-long debt.
I explain the origins of this crisis on @democracynow 👇

To stand in solidarity with NYC's Taxi Workers:
1. Visit their 24/7 protest by city hall (Broadway & Murray)
2. Call your elected officials & demand that @NYCMayor approve @NYTWA's debt restructuring plan
To learn more about the plan, watch this video:
NYC Taxi drivers are on a 24/7 protest re the failure of the City to grant them debt relief.
They were told for years that the medallion would be a sure entry to the middle class.
Now drivers drowning in debt & 9 have committed suicide.
These men have been standing outside of City Hall (Broadway & Murray) since Sunday, 9/17.
They won’t leave until the city approves the plan they deserve each - one that truly restructures their debt & makes their payments affordable.
