New: we solved which AI company is buying massive shipments of rare books, scanning and destroying them to train AI. We put an Apple AirTag in a rare book, followed it. It ended up at an Amazon facility. Its logo is a dinosaur ripping through a book https://t.co/QUv4gs6aT6
@buildwithdk I agree completely but these are short term effects of AI. Big companies simply dont require excess headcount to work on a few problems. The lean startup economy is coming. I definitely feel bad for senior engineers who have less time to upskill
@sfakkawi Ppl also hugely underestimate how much of a driver google maps is for restaurant/cafe/bar discovery (google reviews). Crazy thats not personalized yet
@madsf88 Difficult for an AI w no "taste" to curate this for you, and requires too much intake from the user. I have a feeling what ppl actually care about is what their wider social network likes/has been liking. This is a better barometer for individual recommendations
@johnarnold Their AI search overviews have gotten way better imo. Especially for one-off inquiries that scrape from reddit/blogs. All sub 100 ms latency. Feels smooth
@thejustinguo UX still far better than anything else imo. Song discovery is awful tho, there needs to be a way to pull data from soundcloud/djs blowing up on tt
I genuinely think somewhere between 80-90% of my spare time in the last 2 years was wasted exploring stimulating rabbit holes that never panned out. I have no regrets whatsoever
