Economics, politics, law, COVID, refugees, hospitals, health, mental health, not for profits and alcohol harm. Retweet is not an endorsement. Views are my own.
Parents of small kids breath a sigh of relief when the little ones become proficient enough to swim to the side of a pool without help.
Feeling that same gratitude today as my older two complete their covid vax.
But we still need to protect under 12’s.

@DanielAndrewsMP on schools. Vic first with this?
"Ventilation assessments.. 1000s of CO2 monitors, .. underway very soon.. better use of (HEPA) air filters into those rooms which do not have sufficiently high airflow."
It's now understood that vaccination alone won't get our community to #COVID19Aus safety. That also requires longer-term changes to the way we socialise, work, even build. Eg most schools & hospital buildings are totally unsuitable for airborne virus management & safety. #auspol
I would feel much safer if the proposal was 1 Manage external borders 2 Better quarantine facilities 3 Aim at 98% 12+ fully vaccinated 4 introduce child vaccination as soon as approved. 5 Keep masking indoors. 6 Keep testing and reporting 7 Booster https://t.co/OlxPhDkJch
If we hold no-one accountable for the debacle that was the Afghanistan war, and only punish the whistleblowers who stood up for the very principles we are supposed to stand for, then the idea that Western Parliamentary democracies are the bright lights of the world will be dead.
Who wants facts?
Did we all feel a bit cooked the by the internet last night?
The rumours – the wild comments.
Remember when being online was just a dial up connection and chat rooms?
I miss the simple days of the internet.
Victoria – let’s talk ♥️
Tonight I’m switching up the bonus fact for a community service announcement. Can any besties in Albert Park help @WhatIsAHovig find his keys? I don’t know him but he made a whole thread and it was sent to me. He put out a whiteboard and I just ♥️ this level of crazy/commitment.
Happy day for me. Several people I care a lot about got the COVID vaccine today, overcoming some hesitancy. What do I say to my patients who are unsure about the vaccine? This:
People talking about “if health system gets overwhelmed” in NSW or denying it could happen - IT’S OVERWHELMED NOW
We’ve cancelled mammograms & elective surgery. You think people were having either of those for fun before?
Pediatric ICU specialists in the USA know what they are doing. There is a reason many of us in Australia, me included, have been there as part of our training.
They are seeing many kids get very very sick now with Delta. This is not a drill.

Hello all, it's me @AskarySajjad, for the next few days, I will be tweeting from Nyadol's account to help Afghans and Hazara peoples' voices to be heard.
Tweeting from Australia, "the land of the fair go", looking forward to your support, compassion, kindness and humanity.
NSW is writing cheques the state’s health system will struggle to cash in September.
Delta ICU stays are longterm & staff are a precious finite resource who were overloaded before this outbreak.
Vaccines not fast enough to slow the Delta train. Consistent hard lockdown might.
Today doctors were informed by @AMA_NSW that elective surgery in many private hospitals is to be suspended from 23 August in NSW. This is what #LivingWithCovid would mean..delayed access to non-COVID related care in the public and private system #COVID19
