Hot off the Press: Effect of the Extended-Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma on the Screening Performance of the NEXUS Chest Decision Instrument https://t.co/s1d5HGHGbM @mmgrade
Does E-FAST add or obviate the need for chest radiography in injured patients? In the #NEXUS clinical decision instrument, probably not. https://t.co/yLcdedpFBV #MedTwitter
This #election day @ZSFGCare and @SFElections are making sure all voices are heard by enacting the emergency ballot initiative where volunteers offer voter rights education, support with registration and ballot collection to patients in the Emergency Room. #voterequity
UCSF/ZSFG Emergency Medicine residents have organized a program to allow patients to vote while in the ER, even those on 5150/5250 holds. The program gets the ballot to the pt's bedside, assists them in completing it (if needed) & an on-site secure ballotbox was procured
Amazing
A team at @ucsfdem created an online tool that recommends tailored discharge resources for ED patients with unmet social needs -- check it out & talk to them about implementing a similar tool at your institution! @mmgrade@nickstarkmd @ToffPeabody

This is Dasia Taylor.
She invented a new type of suture that changes color to show if a wound is infected.
She won the state science fair, became a finalist in a national competition, and now has her sights set on a patent.
She's only 17.
Vaccines protect. Votes empower. Got doses 1 + 2 while rocking my @vot_er_org badge! Grateful for huge strides in science & civic engagement — let’s keep it going in 2021 💪 #ThisIsOurShot#COVID19vaccine

Senior custodian William Wyatt was the first frontline #HealthcareHero at UCSF to receive a #COVID19 vaccine yesterday. William has been cleaning dirty linens in hospital rooms during the pandemic. #UCSFHeroes
Props to these organizers calling out @StanfordMed’s “algorithm error” resulting in admins > frontline providers and support staff.
This is just the beginning of vaccine distribution. We must advocate for equity & ethics at every stage.
“I’m here because we were promised, multiple times, that we would be vaccinated in the first wave, “ said Dr. Daniel Hernandez. “They are making us volunteer in the COVID ICU, without extra pay on top of covering our own work.” https://t.co/o03LjZK1uQ
Agreed. However, what does it say about @UCSFHospitals priorities when many ED and ICU providers, nurses, and staff have still not even gotten a vaccine invite?
