Korra was a locked away Avatar with no access to the outside world until she was literally a teenager. When she reached the outside world she had to grapple with the fact that it “supposedly” did not need her and everything she was taught was outdated. Her villains were BRUTAL. She literally fought the spirit of evil itself. She was preyed upon numerous times even by her own family. Lost her bending, lost her past lives unintentionally, survived a poisoning and paralysis, overcame PTSD, and is a representation of what it means to practice personal forgiveness & empathy for your mistakes. Also Bisexual diva. Whats not to defend?
"the human brain has yet to adapt to our world" is a weird way to say "the system we set up to make a handful of people extremely rich generally sucks for everyone else"
I’ll get on board with Voter ID as long as (A) it’s free of charge, (B) is automatically issued to every citizen at the age of 18 and (C) is easily accessible to ALL people of voting age.
If someone doesn’t agree with that, it’s because it’s not really about voter ID. It’s about voter suppression.
I think a lot of people are forgetting that the most watched video of the Mamdani campaign was this one, where he literally looked into the camera and said "I am a socialist and if I win I am going to streamline business permitting and regulations"
It's not lettuce that's the problem; it's the literal shit that's being left on it due to inhumane work conditions and insufficient sanitation. Public health is something no one notices until there's a problem.
The Dept. of Education is rolling out a new accountability test for colleges and universities.
The test itself is simple: If an undergrad program's graduates don't earn more than workers who never went to college, that program could be cut off from federal student loans.

shoot me but I don’t think 55+ communities should exist.
55+ buildings, fine. nursing/retirement homes, sure. but boomers have cordoned off entire gated villages on some of the best real estate in the world where they just trade houses with each other at insane discounts.
I’ve seen 2 bed-2 bath waterfront homes for under $100,000. 2% financing. $5000 down payments. And you’re not allowed to have any of it because you’re not old.
Boomers created these spaces to escape the consequences of the world they helped create. We are left to fight for their hyperinflated scraps on the outside while they live in curated microcosms of the 1980s.
I’m not saying these communities HOA’s can’t be extremely selective about who they let in, but I don’t think a young professional with good references should be shut out simply because of their age.
Seize the 55+ neighborhoods.
I just realized how rare it is to see kids’ shows where a character cries FOR another character out of pure empathy. It’s kind of sad that kids today don’t really get to see that anymore
this stupid whinging about conservatives not being represented in academia always hinges on pretending as though the conservative movement is not fundamentally opposed to the learning, curiosity, and intellectual rigor academia demands
