@LShalott Being overweight all my life or being made to feel overweight all my life (at 6 years old my grandparents would hound me telling me I needed to lose weight- I was just plump not obese, like I am now). I can handle almost any comment/compliment when given in kindness.
@LShalott I’ve been and currently are over weight trying very hard to lose weight. I like kind, encouraging comments as I lose because I do not feel I see myself accurately and often cannot tell if I’m losing or that anything is changing.
@LShalott As I lose weight there are some tacky , back-handed comments; but those are given by those who are unkind when I’m heavy, some people are just thoughtless or unkind. Usually the encouraging comments out-weigh the bad.
Has 2020 shown you the same thing it’s shown me? Through pandemics, pain, prejudice, protests and presidential elections, I remain unshakable. Calm in the midst of the storm. Not because I am strong, special or wise - but because I am anchored to the unchanging One.

A few things about Christlike manhood: It is fierce enough to fight for women. Bold enough to want a woman in Bible class. Safe enough to be alone with a woman. Muscular enough to scatter a crowd of men ready to stone a sinful woman. Brazen enough to send a woman with good news.
The pastor at Christmas Eve service said Immanuel means "God With Us." With that, a little girl in the row behind me shouted out in the most innocent voice, full of wonder and joy: "God is with us."
She gets Christmas.
